Yep, those hippies who designed the Stream Protocol from the 1970s can all go and get updated. :)

Stream. Its so old, it could almost be called the Steam protocol! A Victorian-era antique....

It may be expensive, but at least the iPhone tariff is unlimited means unlimited*.

* OK, so subsequent small print has been added for tethering and there are limits on what you can do via edge and GPRS networks but still :)

I'm with The Post Office for broadband and have got absolutely no complaints. Ironically enough we're with them because BT were going to charge us £125 to get connected, then either force us to stick with them for telephone and broadband (I've had MANY bad experiences with BT for both residential and business broadband) or pay £70 on top of the £125 to get out of the 12 month contract to go with someone else. The Post Office charged us £35 to get connected and gave us 8Megabibble broadband (the fastest we can get here) and phone for cheaper than anyone else.

Did you read the comments on the first article?

"Mark, thank you for your post! One piece to point out is that we are still in the discovery stage right now for VScan and have not determined the price. Thanks, Megan, GE"

Methinks he got the price wrong :D

Well, it ended up being a night of a crash every 2-4 minutes. And the next night. I have now revived my old Vigor 2600 DSL modem, and its now stable. O2: your firmware for the Thompson device is terrible. Speed at 11pm: 3 MB/sec (max at 7am was 6.3 MB/sec @ poplar, E14.

Three restarts tonight, Thursday 14th January. Unimpressed. I check the "O2 Wireless Box II" where it shows "uptime" after each outage to confirm it had restarted.
